About the Owner
Nicole Troiano, CPCA
Owner, Executive Director
Serving Etobicoke and Mississauga South
Nicole worked for many years as a buyer in the electrical industry, but always felt there was more to life than living the 9-5.
Nicole and her five siblings were raised by their Aunt, whom everyone called ‘Amto’.
Amto raised all six children, watched them get married, have children and even helped raise the children. She was the pillar and matriarch of the family “The Mother to All”. When Amto retired in her sixties, she moved in with Nicole and her Family. During the last five years, the family started noticing a change in Amto, as she started becoming very dependant with activities of daily life. The doctors all said that it was age. In the last year of her life they started to notice severe changes in her. Always tired, not wanting to move around, falling down and complaining of stomach pains. The doctors diagnosed Amto with liver disease. Nicole, along with her family, knew they needed help. They decided to pursue home care because her wish was to be home.
The challenge was actually finding a home care company that wasn’t an answering machine or didn’t require a wait time; time they did not have. Nicole and her family struggled to care for Amto until her last day before passing.
Amto inspired Nicole to provide the best quality home care.
Retire-At-Home shares the same values that Nicole was raised with, ‘you treat people with the same respect and kindness as you would your own’.
Caring for others has been a natural transition for Nicole and as fellow humans, this is the least we can do for each other when we are in need.
Nicole has worked with Retire At Home since late 2011 and has not looked back. Working with seniors and people with special needs is extremely rewarding.
Seeing the positive impact and change in people’s lives cannot be expressed with words. Providing excellence in home care is Nicole determination and Amto’s gift.
